“On a beautiful day in October, I married my high school sweetheart, Kyle. Only three months before, I went to watch Kyle’s ceremony after he graduated from Basic Training with the United States Air Force. It was there in San Antonio, Texas, at the River Walk, where he asked me to be his wife. It meant most of the planning would be done over Skype while Kyle was in AIT School! While Kyle spends long days and nights in training, he was virtually there for every part of the planning process. All military men and women deserve our respect for the big and small sacrifices they make daily.
We chose Willow Lake Event Center, a beautiful, natural venue in North Vernon, Indiana. We also chose the traditional Air Force colors to accent our wedding. If only by chance, they seemed to perfectly match the fall scenes of our gorgeous venue. Kyle was only home one week. We managed to do our engagement pictures and have our wedding. Still, nothing ever seemed rushed or disorganized. With all the love from our family, his groomsmen and my bridesmaids, I knew it would be the perfect day. It truly was.
Every bride will tell you that her special day was the best day of her life and every detail was perfect. When I say that, I do not exaggerate or romanticize in any way. A timeless gown, modern rustic décor, and ultimately marrying my best friend was everything I had ever hoped for. Planning a wedding in three months over an app was not exactly ideal, but the end result was perfect. Although I never expected anything less, I have never felt so much love and support in my life. The weather was perfect, and the sun was shining bright. The day unfolded exactly how we had envisioned it.”
