Spring weddings are my favorite because of the pops of pastel colors! This gorgeous wedding at The University of Memphis at Lambuth campus in Jackson, Tennessee gives me all the feels with its purple, gray, and white color palette!
“What I feel is special about this submission is first, the color palette. Carly chose the prettiest and most delicate purples, white, gray and green which were a perfect choice for a spring wedding in West Tennessee. The couple also included lots of family heirlooms into their day, and while they opted out of doing a traditional first look, Carly shared a special first look with her father. The campus where they had their wedding ceremony is where Carly graduated with her bachelor’s degree, they took their engagement photos, and Carly’s parents also took their engagement photos many years ago. Not to mention the historic campus is in the heart of Jackson and one of the prettiest locations in the county, full of rich heritage but sometimes forgotten about. I think you will see that the colors, the tenderness of the bride and groom, the joy expressed throughout the portraits, the details, and the rich sentimentality behind Carly and Zach’s wedding day are a great fit for Nashville Bride Guide and the viewers that come to your blog looking for inspiration. This story also serves as a good reminder for brides who choose to wait until the ceremony to see their groom, to know that they can still incorporate surprise elements into their day, such as a father/daughter first look, reading a letter, etc. While most of these images were shot on digital, many of them were shot on medium format film and developed by The Find Lab.
On March 16, 2019, Carly and Zachary were married at The University of Memphis at Lambuth campus in Jackson, Tennessee. Lambuth holds special meaning for these two, as this is where Carly graduated with her undergrad degree, and the two of them took their engagement pictures just as Carly’s parents did nearly forty years ago. After months of rain and clouds, the skies opened up to reveal the brightest sunlight and warm, yet breezy spring temperatures, creating the perfect day for their nuptials. Carly chose the prettiest lavender, lilac, grey, white and green palette for her special day with Zach. And many precious family heirlooms were woven into their story: Carly’s “something blue” was a handkerchief sown especially for her by Zach’s grandmother; Carly’s earrings were crafted from her late grandmother’s own wedding band (a gift from her mother); a charm hung around both Carly’s bridal bouquet and Zach’s boutonniere sporting a photograph of her grandmother and his grandfather that had both passed away prior to their wedding; and the gorgeous antique Buick that made the perfect getaway car belongs to Carly’s grandfather. Family is extremely important to both Carly and Zach. And while they chose not to do a first look themselves, Carly shared a special first look with her father, which left all of us in tears, as her mother joined in and Carly surprised both of them with the most thoughtful handkerchief and socks. The two of them said their vows inside the old R.E. Womack Memorial Chapel in the heart of Lambuth’s campus surrounded by close family and friends. Afterward, the two of them shared some much-needed time away from the crowd walking through the beautiful sunlit campus just before the sun began to set, and then escaped to their reception across town. The details of Carly and Zach’s special day were thoughtful, delicate and romantic- a true reflection of their love for each other and their families. Zach was all smiles with his bride by his side and Carly truly came into her own element as a bride in her high-neck lace gown. It was absolutely the most perfect day, complemented by the perfect color palette, weather, and company. (I would love to provide more details upon request and of course, the title of the submission can definitely be adapted as desired!!)”
